Healthy Dancer Seminar: 5:30 - 6:30 PM

Dr. Brian Magna, DPT, ATC presents the Dance Wellness Seminar for both parents and students. An interactive presentation that will discuss common dance injuries and prevention as well as dance fitness and overall health of the dancer.

On the day of the competition dancers will be able to receive complimentary injury assessments as well as taping as needed. Please note this service does not include massage therapy. It is intended for dancers to be able to receive an evaluation and advice regarding chronic injuries as well as unfortunate injuries which may occur during the two-day event.

Digital Music Upload

Please upload all competition music online at least two weeks prior to the competition.

Please rename each track before uploading. See example:

We ONLY accept .mp3 and .m4a files.

We are using a free service called WeTransfer.  You can upload several tracks at a time.  All uploaded music MUST meet the above requirements.  Please use when sending files.

Back Up Music

All back up music on CD must be handed in at time of check in. Music must be properly labeled and in a separate CD sleeve.

Back up CD and sleeve MUST be labeled with:

- School Code

- Participants Name

- Title of Track - Exactly as Registered

If music is not handed it at time of check in, the competitor will not receive their competition number(s) or name badge.

CD back ups must be of good quality and playable on a professional sound system.

NOTE: Please be advised against the use of re-writable CD’s, they have a tendency not to work in all CD players.

*All back up music MUST be picked up at the end of the competition at the Check In table in the Theater Lobby.   CD’s are organized by School Code.  Any music not picked up will be discarded.

Day of Competition Information

Only students in each category will be allowed in the dressing area at a time. 

When you are finished competing please take all your costumes and personal belongings and leave the dressing area. Use the side stage door to the theater between variations. 

Please do not use the lobby doors or side stage door when someone is on stage performing.  Lobby Doors must remain closed at all times and please keep the noise level in the Lobby at a minimum during the competition. 

SCHOOL DIRECTORS  your studio packet with 2 coach badges will be available on Saturday, March 10th during the Master Classes at Check-In OR at the CT Classic information table in the lobby at the Warner Theatre. 

NO ONE will be allowed backstage without a badge.

VIDEOS you will receive a free digital video copy of each variation approximately two weeks after performance. If you do not receive your video please email us.

SCORE SHEETS will be available at the judges table after the competition. Only School Directors or School Representatives will be able to pick up the score sheets. 

Parents are not allowed to pick up the score sheets unless the competitor is registered as independent. 

If you are not able to stay for the awards ceremony please have a representative pick up your students scores. 

We do not keep score sheets on file and we do not mail them out.


Rules, Regulations & Fees

  • Professional dancers are not permitted to compete. Professional dancer is defined as anyone who is employed as a full-time dancer with a professional dance company on a yearly contract that engages the dancer at least 26 weeks per year. This also includes dancers who are not currently employed under such contract, but have been in the past.
  • The Official Connecticut Classic reserves the right to use any photo or video recording of  the participants’ performances during the competition for promotional purposes.
  • Entries will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, and registration will be closed when the quota is reached or one month before the competition, whichever comes first.
  • All solo participants in Junior and Senior Divisions have a choice of performing one or two of the variations from the classical ballet repertoire list. Youth Division participants may perform one variation or two variations from the classical ballet repertoire list. Youth Division variations may be adapted to fit the participants technical abilities. Note: Youth Division participants are not required to perform en pointe.
  • Participants wishing to perform a pas de deux from Classical Repertoire List may perform adagio and the optional coda.
  • If there is a sufficient number of male competitors, a male division will be created



The Official Connecticut Classic must receive participants’ on-line registration and music no later than 30 days prior to the date of the competition, February 5, 2018. All Variations and Pas de Deux will be filmed and photographed during the competition. A professional digital video will be sent via email and is included in your Registration Fees for each participant.  All competitors will be able to purchase individual photographs at the competition.  All registrations include the Master Class, unless participant is only taking the Master Class.


The Official Connecticut Classic does not issue refunds. In the case of injury, The Official Connecticut Classic should be notified immediately by the participant, parent or teacher.
